Merci Train Anniversary Commemorated in Scottsdale

A Successful Event Honors a Symbol of Franco-American Friendship

On February 2nd, 2024, a special event was held in Scottsdale, Arizona, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Merci Train. This historic train, carrying gifts from grateful French citizens to the American people after World War II, has become a powerful symbol of transatlantic friendship.

The event, hosted by the 40 & 8, drew a significant crowd of attendees who came together to honor this remarkable chapter in history. Among the distinguished guests were a representative from the French Consulate, the State Commander of the American Legion Department of Arizona, and a representative from the Mayor of Scottsdale’s office.

Despite the slightly chilly and windy weather, the spirit of camaraderie and gratitude filled the air. Attendees enjoyed a barbecue lunch and a heartfelt ceremony that paid tribute to the generosity and resilience of both nations.

This event serves as a reminder of the enduring bond between France and the United States, and the power of human kindness to transcend borders and heal wounds.
